How do I Change the Look of My Garage Door Without Getting a New One?

The Neighborhood Garage Door Repair team is excited to give you some tips and trips for your garage door. We know that you’re always looking for ways to update your home and increase your curb appeal. Here is how you can change the look of your garage door without getting a new one:

Change The Color

It sounds simple, but choosing the new color you want your garage door to be can be challenging. You want to ensure that the new color will mesh well with your home and the outside decor that you have. Painting your door is a great way to the look of your home without much investment. Just make sure that you use the proper kind of paint for the material of your door.

Install Windows

Windows can change the entire look of your door. If you already have windows, you can add another row in order to let more light in. A qualified technician can order windows that are compatible with your garage door and install them for you in a few hours.

For your safety, it is best to install in the upper third of your garage door. If you go lower than that, we recommend you add a film or curtains to keep people from being able to see in.

Paint Faux Windows

If you don’t want to have windows installed, you can actually paint faux windows to make a change. It’s simple to create faux windows. Simply tape the outline of a window on your garage door where you want it to appear. Then, you will use black spray paint inside of the outline to create the pains.

Add Carriage Style Hardware

Adding carriage style hardware to the outside of a garage door is popular. Many people love the look of that type of door, but don’t want to replace their door. It’s easy to create this style with 2 handles and 4 hinges for a single car garage. If you have a two car garage, then you will need 4 handles and 8 hinges.

If you have a metal garage door, you can get the magnetic hinges. They do not require tools or preparation and can easily be removed if you want to change your style.

They sent Doug Fussell out to my house on the day after Christmas! I had only called them three days before! Doug was a premier technician, very thorough and very efficient. I expected him to take two days, since he was replacing two doors and adding openers on each door. He only took the daylight hours of one day! I could not believe how fast he was! In addition, he thoroughly taught me how to use the remote openers. I highly recommend them to anyone!

We just bought a home and this company was so understanding as I had to change the appointment time a few times. Then the tech came out and was so kind and helpful. I could not have asked for a better experience and will suggest them to anyone who needs work done on their garage door!

My garage door broke on a Saturday night as I was getting ready to leave for a holiday party. Kelvin was here within 30 minutes. He reviewed everything with me that was happening with my door. He gave me the estimates of what was immediately needed to be done in order for my door to raise and then what I will need to have done very soon. I could see all the problems he pointed out to me and I decided to have everything done. He completed everything that night. I was very satisfied with Kelvin’s professionalism and the work he did. Thank you again.
